Hachijo-jima is an island situated approximately 300 kilometers south of Tokyo, and is an excellent place to visit in order to escape the concrete jungle for a few days. Unfortunately, I was not very lucky with the weather when going. |

Nikko is one of Japan's most important historical areas, and nearby Kinugawa is a town known for its many hot spring resorts. As they are located close to Tokyo, I paid them both a short visit. |

I had the great pleasure of visiting Iriomote-jima, the last major island in Okinawa yet to be developed. Although I worry about the island's future, I had an excellent time. It certainly is Japan's last paradise. |

Previously a destination for Japanese honeymooners, Izu-Hanto has now been reduced to a popular weekend destination for Tokyoites. The rugged coastline, however, is beautiful. |

Matsushima, considered to be one of Japan's 3 Great Sights, is not really all what it is made out to be. Still, I went there on a short trip, and managed to take a few pictures. |

August 2-4, I went to Fukuoka for the Asian Pacific Speech Contest. As student judge, I was flown down for free, and had an excellent time. Forrest went with me, but we also made lots of new friends while down there. |
