I had an interesting conversation with an American lady on the plane to Seoul, and one of the things we discussed was the below list (thanks to Lilian for sending it to me). There is little or no focus in the West on Malaysia's apartheid system directed against its Chinese minority population. When you think about it, the fact that an ethnic majority feels that it needs to discriminate against a minority group is rather odd. Malaysia is of course not unique with regard to discrimination against Chinese people. The cause seems to be that Chinese immigrants tend to dominate the commerce and business sectors of some Southeast Asian countries. Rather than trying to learn from the Chinese, the approach in Malaysia seems to be to discriminate against them. However, that a majority will discriminate against a successful minority has been common throughout history, just look at how the Jews and French Hugenots (both successful minorities) were treated in Europe.
I love Malaysia, and have visited the country on several occasions. However, the country's anti-semite foreign policy (Israeli citizens are not allowed to enter Malaysia) and internal apartheid policies leave a bad taste in my mouth. Anyway, the chain email on Malaysian discrimination reads as follows:
This list of racial discriminations is practiced both by the government as well as government agencies. This list is an open secret, best verified by the government itself because it has the statistics. (that will probably never be fully disclosed)
This list is not in the order of importance, that
means the first one on the list is not the most
important and the last one on the list does not mean
the least important.
This list is a common knowledge to a lot of
Malaysians, especially the non-malays (Chinese, Ibans,
Kadazans, Orang Asli, Indians, etc) who are being
racially discriminated.
Figures in this list are estimates only and please
take it as a guide only. The Government of Malaysia
has the most correct figures. Is government of
Malaysia too ashamed to publish their racist acts by
publishing racial statistics?
This list covers a period of about 48 years since
Malaysia's independence (1957).

CNN.com - England hang on after superb start - Jun 10, 2006
I watched the England-Paraguay game at a bar in Roppongi. Before going, I did not really care who would win, but the English fans in the pub quickly convinced me to cheer for the Paraguay underdogs. Three English friends were already drunk before the game started. Sharing one brain, which they apparently had left at home, they were more concerned about screaming and shouting during the game than actually watching it.
A newspaper article the other day noted that men who are not good at sports often compensate for this deficiency by drinking lots of alcohol. Some of the English idiots in the bar today proved whatever the study was trying to say.
Otherwise, I am having trouble convincing friends and colleagues that Norway could not join the World Cup this year due to vacation and various timing issues. Being a small nation, we can not simply take time off for any random sports event, and this year we decided to focus on the Olympics. Therefore, we simply could not afford to send a team to the World Cup. Thank you for your understanding.

Visiting Amusement Parks & Other Attractions In Florida During The New Year
I can't believe it took me 6 months to get these Florida pictures online... Hey, what can I say, I am just a slow guy.
Hopefully my May trip to Cambodia will get published soon, though I have not even started working on that part.

Webcam Girls Go Wild - Google Video
Great marketing by Lynx, a big fragrance company. While the above video initially looks like an amateur home video, it must be the work of Bluetooth (a huge marketing agency, check out the deal with Lynx covered here).
Anyway, the great "Webcam Girls Go Wild" video ends with an unsuspicious ad for clickmore.com, a great marketing site targeting guys to launch the new fragrance Click. Great design, beautiful girls, and a funny ad featuring Ben Affleck. It just makes you wonder how much the campaign costs, and did they pay Google for it? Anyway, this really shows the way forward for video marketing.
